If marked price is Rs 100, then SP = Rs 49
If C is CP, then C*1.51 = 49
CP = 49/1.51
Marked price /CP = 100*1.51/49 = 151/49= 3.08 times

so marked price was quoted 3.08 times as compared to cost price.

For approximation, just consider qn as
If a shopkeeper gives 50% discount and still earns 50% profit. Then how much times the selling price was quoted as compared to cost price ?

Then for, CP = Rs 100, SP= Rs 150 and marked/quoted price = Rs 300.
which is 3 times CP.

51% OF PROFIT =151% OF COST PRICE
151CP=49SP=>SP IS APPROX. 3 TIMES(151/49) TIMES OF CP

(100+51)% of cp=(100-51)% of marked price(mp)
ie,(151/100)*cp=(49/100)*mp
on simplification,we get mp=151/49=3.08 is the required ans
