I think statement should be

He can buy 100 oranges 'or' 80 mangoes.

Then if he had Rs 800 initially, price of mango is Rs 10 and price of orange is Rs 8.
He spent Rs 0.8*800 = Rs 640 only on fruits out of which he spent Rs 40*10 = Rs 400 on mangoes.
From balance Rs 240, he can buy 240/8= 30 oranges only.

Ans 104 oranges
Let the price of an Orange=10 and a mango=10
Total cost of 100 orange & 80 Mango=10*100+10*80=1000+800=1800
If the amount wasted =20%,then remaining amount=1800-0.2*1800=1440
now the cost of 40 mangoes=400,So remaining amount=1440-400=1040
Oranges he can purchase=1040/10=104

u can assume any price of oranges and mangoes ans will always be different so in this case u have to check the options sand then give your ans.

20 Oranges only


He can buy 5 oranges 'or' 4 mangoes.

Then if he had Rs 200 initially, price of mango is Rs 5 and price of orange is Rs 4.
He spent Rs 0.4*200 = Rs 80 only on Oranges he spent Rs 4*5 = Rs 20 on mangoes.
The total is=80+40=120

From balance Rs 200-120=80, he can buy 80/4= 20 oranges only.
