given j finish work in 16 so in one day=1/16
p...................in 24..............=1/24
according to question j+p+h=1/8
then h=1/8-(j+p)
h=1/8-(1/16+1/24)
h=48

let H takes x days
So, 1/x+ 1/16 + 1/24 = 1/8
=>1/x + 5/48 = 1/8
=>1/x = 1/8-5/48 = 1/48
=> x=48 days

easy way to do this type of questions in competitive exam in less time is
take lcm of all
lcm of 16,24 and 8 is 48
so j finish 48/16=3 units
so p finish 48/24=2 units
J,P,H together finishes 48/8=6 units
so h will finish 6-(3+2)=1 units
so h will finish work in 48*1=48 days(ans)

j in 1 day=1/16;
p in 1 day=1/24;
(j+p+h)=1/8;---(1);
from equation 1 we get h=1/48;
so,j complete the whole work in (1/(1/48))=48 days.
