A gains 20 yards over B in it's down the hill journey. So for entire journey A will have a lead of 40 yards over B.
now, when A is at destination B is 40 yards behind which B will cover in 5 minutes.
so, by unitary method we get..
For B, 40 yards in 5 minutes
therefore,1 yard in 5/40 minutes
therefore,880 yards in (5/40)*880=110 minutes.
Now b takes 110 minutes so A will take 105 minutes.

distance between A and B is 40yards.
time is 0.5 min. so to cover 440yards time taken is 5min30sec.
Hence for completion on race 880yards which implies 11min by A to complete.

Length of the road to go to top =440 yards
then to reach the top and again reach down it will take 880 yards to complete
A finishes the distance of 880 yards 5 mins before B to complete.
If A is at destination [(i.e) at 880th yard]
Then B must be at 840th yard
So diff Between the two are 40yards.
If A finishes the total distance 5mins before B then B takes 5 mins to finish 40 yards.
therefore B's total time taken to finish the dist = 22 x 5 [(i.e)40 yards =50]
so 22 x 40 =880 therefore 22 x 5=110

If B takes 110 mins to complete then A should complete 5 mins before B

Ans : 105 mins

b lacks 40 yards n covers it in 5 minutes.
bcovers 8 yards in 1 min
hence 880 yards in 110 min.
a takes 5 min less than b ..hence 105 minutes

Diff b/w A and B = 40 yards
Diff in time = 5
so for 440 yards, it will 55 mins

first we have to calculate speed of A
speed of A is (distance bw A and B)/5 min =40/5=8.
time A had taken to COMPLETE THE RACE =(Total distance/speed)=880/8=110

first we will calculate speed of
the distance covered by A is 840 and the distance coverd by B is 800
A takes time (t-5)
B takes time t
so equate both distance
840(t-5) = 800(t)
t = 105 min

Length of the Road = 440 Yards. [one side]
A covers 460 yards when B covers 420 yards.
When A covers 880 yards B covers (420/460) * 880 yards.
B covers (1 - 21/23) * 880 yards in 5 minutes.
B covers 880 yards in 5*23/2 = 57.5 minutes.
Thus A covers the distance in 52.5 minutes.

2 persons running up and down the hill.
length of road = 440

A met B while he coming down. while A coming down B was geting up and he is 20 yards below the road of up journey

which means B coverd 420 yards. at same time A covered up journey+20 yards from top to meet B

i.e while B covers 420 yards, A covers 440+20 yards and he met B at that point

B=420 yards, A= 460 yards
A completes 5 min before B . so the diff b/w them 40 yards .

it took 5 min for B to get to A at finish line which is 40 yards in 5 min which means 5/40 min

for total distance, 880yards , 5/40 x 880= 110
110 is for B since we get the 40 yard in 5 min for B person not A
so A takes 105 min

When A travels 460m (=440+20),

B travels 420m (=440-20). So, ratio of speed = 460:420

= 23:21.

Let A's speed be 23x, and that of B's be 21x.

=> 23x = ((2 * 440) / t) which implies 23t = 880/x;

=> 21x = ((2 * 440) / (t+5)) which implies 21(t+5) = 880/x.

From these two equations, 23t = 21(t+5). Solving, t = 52.5
