The age of two friends is in the ratio 5:6, after how many years will the ages be in the ratio 7:8?

If present ages are 5x and 6x and after y years , their ages are in ratio of 7:8, then
5x+y/6x+y = 7/8 or 40x+8y= 42x+7y or y=2x; so after 2 times the Highest common factor ( in years) of their ages now , ratio of ages will be 7:8.

After 1/3 years of age of senior friend.
e.g.
If present ages are 5 yeras and 6 yrs, then after 6/3=2 years.
if present ages are 10/12, then after 4 years.
if present ages are 15/18, then after 6 years.
if present ages are 20/24, then after 8 years.
if present ages are 25/30, then after 10 years.

let after "x" year their age will be in 7:6
s0 equation (5+x)/(6+x)=7/8
x=2yrs

5x,6x are their age
let after y year
5x+y/6x+y=7/8
so, y=2x
here we can check every option in the given question
so if we take y=10,s
y=2x
x=5,so ages will be 25,30
their ratio after 10 year is 7/8 so 10 is a correct answer.

i thnk 5x+y/6x+y=7/8,
we get y=2x.
so it will be a multiple of 2

present ratio =5:6
after y(suppose) years ages = 5x+y:6x+y
so,
5x+y/6x+y=7/8
on solving,
y=2x
hence after 2 years there ages becomes 7/8
ANS: 2 years

let us consider after x years ration will be 7:8.
now according to question
5+x/6+x=7/8
now by cross multiplying it we will get the ans.
ans is 2 years.
