53% of 42 machines is 53*42/100=22.26 and
48% of 58 machines is 48*58/100=27.84,
so
22.26+27.84 =50.1..

Speed in Still Water=8 km/hr
Distance travelled in upstream=1 km in 1 hr Therefore speed in upstream =1km/hr
Now, Speed in still water=Speed(upstream)+Speed(Downstream)/2
That is 8=1+ Speed(downstream)/2
So speed in downstream=15km/hr
Now , time taken in downstream= distance/speed=>> 1km/15km/hr=1/15
Converting time in min.=>> 1/15*60 = 4min answer

Using alligations, 53-42=11. And 48-11=37. therefore 42+37=79%
