If milk and water in original mixture is 5x and x respectively, then
5x/(x+20) = 5/6, x=4
So milk in original mixture=5*4=20 liters

ratio of milk and water is=5:1
let x:y=5:1---------(1)
after adding 20 liters of water the ratio becomes=5:6
x:y+20=5:6---------(2)
solve (1) &(2)
and you can get the answer as x=20,y=4
therefore milk present in original mixture,x=20 liters

Let in first mixture water is x.and in second mixture water become 6x.
So ,x+20=6x.
X=4
So .water is 4 lit in original mixture

given : 20 liters were added to 5:1 mixture in order to get 5:6 mixture
so that means here 5 parts of mixture = 20 lit 0f water
so 1 part = 5 liters
then original milk =5*4=20 liters

water/milk=5x/[x+20]=5/6
30x=5[x+20]
25x=100
x=4

m:w=5:1=> m=5x,w=x
5x/(x+20) =5/6 by cross multiplication we get x=4lt
original milk content is 5*4=20lt

x=4

total mixture x x
initial ratio 5:1 a:b
water added 20 w
new ratio 5:6 c:d
20=x(5*6-5*1)/(5*6)
=24 w=x(ad-bc)[c(a+b)]
milk =(5/6)*24=20
20 liters of milk is present
