8 vertical lines plus the 2 lines of the existing rectangle(as its mentioned in the question "in a rectangle") accordingly 4 plus 2 horizontal lines.
therefore
10C2*6C2= 675 and if its asked for the new rectangle formed than
675-1=674 (excluding the existing rectangle)

8 vertical lines
4 horizontal
now,2 horizontal and 2 vertical already there in rectangle
so,
H=8+2=10
V=4+2=6
number of horizontal and vertical lines required to make rectangle=2 each
so
10 C 2 * 6 C 2= 675

as relates this to formula ....
no.of vertical lines are 8 means m=8 and no. of horizontal line n=4
so,(1+2+3+........+m)(1+2+.....+n) = (1+2+3+.......+8)(1+2+....+4) = (36)(10) = 360
so no.of rectangle formed is 360

vertical lines=8
horizontal lines=4
one triangle is alredy exisi i:e,2 vertical lines and 2 horizontal lines.
so, vertical lines=10
horizontal lines=6
then,
10C2*6C2=675

using this formula
ans wil be

if ractangal has m row and n column then no of rectangal is given by [1+2+3+.........m][1+2+3+...n] so 15*45=645
