Except between 12 pm to 1 pm ,for every 1 hour, minute hand will cross hour hand.

Number of overtakes = number of minutes between noon and midnight i.e a total of 12 hrs = 12*60 =720
So a total of 720 times.

Because in every hour, minute hand passes once so between noon to midnight it will be 11 times.

In a 12 hour period the hour hand goes round the dial just once and the minute hand goes round 12 times. Therefore they pass each other 12 - 1 = 11 times.
One of these 11 times is 12 midnight also.
But in the given problem, between noon and midnight is asked.
So we don’t count either of the two 12’0 Clock times.
Therefore the answer is 10.

Here from noon to midnight there is total 12 hours.
And Hands coincides 11 times in every 12 hours.
That’s why 11 times is the correct answer.

10 times they actually pass TEN times and are equal at Midnight (which would make ELEVEN, if you accept it). I don't really think that you can count the start point of Noon.

because here the question is asking 'between' so we will not calculate the extreme ends.
