Since,512=2^9
So,by cross multiplication..2^9 * 2^n=2^(9+n)
and left side is:2^228.
so,becauz of same base both side...the power goes equal..so 9+n=228
n=228-9=219..Ans

ans= n-1+n-2=2n-3.
First detective will call all other detectives : Eg: 1st detective calls 2nd,3rd,....nth, so n-1 calls, by this 1st and the nth detective knows all the information. Now 1st detective, since he knows all the information will call the n-2 detectives and share the info with them. hence n-1+n-2 =2n-3 calls.

formula:a^m*a^n=a^(m+n)
2^9=512
228-9=219
