1st odd number is 1 and last one is 9999, which forms an A.P. 1, 3, 5, ...., 9999
Here, first term a=1, difference d=2, we have to find number of terms 'n'
In A.P. we have, Last term = a + (n-1)d
9999 = 1 + (n-1)2
=> 9999 = 2n -1
2n = 10000
n = 5000
Hence, there are 5000 odd number between 0 to 10000.

no the number of times a odd number comes i.e ex for number 3 it comes 1 time and 13 has two odd numbers and 113 has 3 odd numbers ... in similar manner how many times a odd number occurs between 0 to 10000

1 digit = (5)
2 digit = (5x5)x2 + (4x5)x1
3 digit = (5x5x5)x3 + (4x5x5)x2 + (5x4x5)x2 + (4x4)x1
4 digit = (5x5x5x5)x4 + (4x5x5x5)x3 + (5x4x5x5)x3 + (5x5x4x5)x3 + (4x4x5x5)x2 + (4x5x4x5)x2 + (5x4x4x5)x2 + (4x4x4x4)x1
5 digit = 1

Sum all the possibilities = 10651
I thought other solutions here were correct at first sight, but I am amazed how people are blindly marking any solution as helpful. People have given full proof long solutions without understanding the question properly. Sad.

In 2 digit - 25 times
In 3 digit - 125 times
In 4 digit - 625 times
Total - 780 times between 0 to 10000.

read the question properly ... "how many times an odd number comes between 0 to 10k" so we should count each number individually n count no. of odd no.

Last odd no. in this range=9999
So,Let No. off odd nos. be n.
l=a+(n-1)*d
9999=1+(n-1)*2
n-1=4999
n=5000

formula to find odd numbers in a given range: ((n2-n1)/2)+1
so, ((10000-0)/2)+1
=5000+1
=5001

You wanna find no. of odd numbers between 0 and 10000

Imagine they’re in Arithmetic Progression(AP) i.e. 1,3,5… with common difference(cd) 2

To find number terms in AP : ((last num - first num)/cd)+1

By applying the formula above

((9999- 1)/2 )+1 (99 is the last odd number between 0 and 10000)

(9998/2)+1 = 4999+1 = 5000

Most people apply the above formula But Forget to add the 1 at last
