Let x be no. of notes of (1re + 2rs)
Let y be no. of notes of (5rs + 10rs)
Given that y = x + 1
From the 1st condition, the only value that x and y can take are 6 and y respectively, so as to get the sum of theirs as 13 and also satisfy the condition that no. of notes used of 5rs and 10rs are 1 more than the no. of notes used of 1re and 2rs.

Now say x = x1 + x2
now since the price is a multiple of ten, we have to adjust this sum of x to a multiple of 5 (i.e. the unit digit should be 5 or 0)
The only way the above condition can be satisfied is by having x1 = 2 and x2 = 4...
Hence the no. of 1re notes used is 2

5rs*2=10
10rs*5=50
total = 60 rs which isa multiple of ten and it has total 13 currency notes i.e. two 1rs+four 2rs+two 5rs+five 10rs

as given there is 13 notes
and 10,5 rs notes are one more than 1,2 rs notes

than the only possibility that 6+7=13
so
a*1+b*2+c*5+d*10=e*10
in that
a+b=6
c+d=7
a*1+b*2 also should be 10's multiple
for a+b=6 there is only possible solution to make ans 10's multiple
a=2,b=4
check it
so 2 is right answwer

b= 2 rupee notes
c= 5 rupee notes
d= 10 rupee notes
given a+b+c+d=13
and c+d+1=a+b

int(13/2)=6
so a+b=6
and c+d=7
possibility for 6= (4,2)(2,4)(3,3)(1,5)(5,1)
possibility for 7= (4,3)(3,4)(2,5)(5,2)(6,1)(1,6)
5*4+10*2=40 1*4+2*3=10
5*2+10*4=50 1*3+2*4=11
like this check the possibilities ,, we get 2 answers
2-->5,4-->10,1-->4,2-->3
or
4-->5,2-->10,1-->4,2-->3

Can be solved using both the statements together

Total number of notes = 13
7 (1 and 2 currency notes)
6 (5 and 10 currency notes)

only possibility

2 notes of currency 1
4 notes of currency 2
4 notes of currency 5
3 notes of currency 10

cost = 60

Both statement together will give the answer because only the sum of 1 & 2 rs note and 5 & 10 rs note is given nither the seprate count of 1 n 2 rs note nore that of 5 & 10 rs note is given

Both the statements are required to answer this question. As its given, the total number of 5 and 10 rupee notes is one more than the total no.of 1 and 2 rupee notes and also a total of 13 currency notes are used, this is possible if the total no.of 5 and 10 rs.note = 7 and total no.of 1&2 rs.note =6.....
since the pen is a multiple of 10, it is possible only when we take
1 rs.note = 2
2 rs.note = 4
5 rs.note = 2
10 rs.note = 5
therefore the total amount is rs.70 and it needs both the statements to answer...

Answer is...both statements are needed together to get the answer.

if we take only 1st statement, we can only say that rs. 1and 2 together are 6 in number
and rs. 5 and 10 together are 7 in number. Any combination for rs. 1 and 2 are possible for total 6 coins.

if we take only 2nd statement, many combinations are possible to get total cost as multiple of 10.so, we won't get any particular solution.

Taking together 1 and 2 statements, we can use them as constraints for each other.
we will have rs.1*2 +rs.2*4 =rs.10 (6 coins).......only this combination is possible
rs. 5*6 +rs.10*1 =rs.40 (7 coins)......can be any combination for 5 and 10 rupees coin.

so, to get rs.1 coin as 2 in number, both statements are needed.
