vestigial side band is used for picture transmission because for picture transmission bandwidth required is 7.5mhz.if we use dsb-sc it take 9mhz bandwidth which is very much more & if we use ssb which has 4.5mhz bandwidth which is less for picture transmission so we use vestigial side band.

Bandwidth used for picture reception is very large so we can not go for Am broadcast.Coming to ssb it would result in half of bandwidth,so we use Vsb the unwanted sideband is transmitted with wanted sideband then transmission of picture will be done.

vsB side band is use for video transmission in which one complete site Band is use for picture and remaining half side band is use for audio transmission.

to prevent the distortion of signals at low frequency levels...which contain important information...Ex: Video signals & Picture signals...
