A woman goes to a shop to buy a product worth Rs.200. She buys the product and gives a thousand rupee note. The shopkeeper goes to the other shop to get the change. Then he returns back and gives the change back to the woman and then she departs. After sometime the second shopkeeper comes and reports that 1000 rupee note is fake, so the first shopkeeper gives him 1000rs.

Ans::1000 rupees loss
Initially,he gets 1000rupees from second shopkeeper and repays him 1000 rupees.
So,there is no loss and no gain till now.Furthur,he gives 800 rupees to the woman and also looses the 200rupees product.So,the over all loss is 1000 rupees.

In this type of question the loss is always equal to the amount of fake note received by the shopkeeper. So, the loss is Rs 1000.

Forget the third person as you a have recieved 1000 from him and payed him back so no loss is possible their.
thus only loss is possible through the fake note of Rs.1000 thus a loss(200 of product + 800 of return)

Ans is 1000 Rs. Loss, because hall transaction is
800(gave to woman)+200(product price)+1000(to 2nd Shopkeeper)-1000(taken from 2nd Shopkeeper)=1000

lady gives to the shopkr=0 (fake note)
shopkeeper gives to lady = 1000 (200 product + 800 chnge)
1 shopkpr takes from the 2 is 1000 then he returns the same..
i.e total lost is 1000rs

i think the ans is 2000
as the shopkeeper returns 1000 rs to the 2nd shopkeeper nd gives 800 rs original change to woman nd also the 200 rs product to women so net loss is equal to
1000+800+200=2000
lol wat a heavy loss with a 200 product sell its 10times the product value :P

ans is 2000 bcos product amt 200, change 800 and a 1000 rs note.
so 200+800+1000=2000.

He's lost Rs1800.

After the initial sale, he had Rs200 and no longer had the Rs200 product,and he has gave the woman Rs800 as the change. Then, he has to give the other shopkeeper Rs1000 and gets nothing in exchange, so he's lost Rs1800.

Another way to look at it is that the woman has left with a Rs200 and Rs800 in change, so has gained Rs1000. That means he must have lost Rs1000,and has to pay the other shop Rs1000 of which he already has Rs200. So he pays them Rs800 from his own money.
Rs1000 lost to the woman, Rs800 lost to the other shop= Rs1800

as after getting change he returns 800 andkeeps 200 for the product and then he again gives 1000 to compensate for fake note ...so net loss is 1800

I think the net loss is 1800 because the first shop keeper got change of 1000 which is fake and gave 800 to the customer so now 200 is original currency with him and he gave 1000 to second shop keeper as it is fake so full total 1000+800=1800
