Then Jack replied" I wont tell u.I wil give u a clue,When Ann takes 28 steps Doug takes 24 steps, meantime I take 21 steps. Jack explained that his 6 steps equals Droug's 7 steps and Ann's 8 steps. lets jack took 6 steps in i min,
so dough el take 7 steps in 1min
anne el take 8 steps in 1 min
..
now time taken by jack to take 21 steps=21/6=3.5 min
..................anne.........28......=28/8=3.5 min
..................doug.........24......=24/7=3.42 min
so dough win d race..

jack = ann ratio so jack and ann will win the race at a time.

Ann steps = 8,16,24,28 --- finished by 3 & half full steps
Doug steps=7,14,21,24 --- finished before 3 & half full steps
Jack steps= 6,12,18,21 --- finished by 3 & half full steps
So Doug won the race

assume jack covers 1 meter in 21 steps,

hence ann will cover 28*6/8 which is equal to jack's speed

speed of doug is 24*6/7 which is less than speed of jack

hence both jack and ann will reach at same time (1st place)

let total step involve in the path = 100 steps 0f jack
droug 7 step= 6 jack step
droug 1 step= 6/7 jack step

droug 24 step time= jack 21 step time
jack 100 step time= 2400/21 droug step= 2400/21*6/7=97.9

jack 6 steps= anna 8 step
1 anna step=6/8 jack step
21 steps jack time= 28 anna
100 jack= 2800/21*6/8=105
so anna win the race

As simple as that
since jacks 6 step= doughs 7 step = ann 8 step
now lets assume all of them complete the above steps in 1 minute
so jacks 1 step in 1/6minute
similarly doughs 1 step in 1/7minute
sinilarly ann 1 step in 1/8 minute
28/8=3.5
24/7=3.42
21/6=3.5
so dough takes 3.42 minute he wins the race
