You can have registration plates of 5,4,3,2 or 1 digits
So, it's 5*4*3*2*1 + 5*4*3*2 + 5*4*3 +5*4 + 5
=120 + 120 + 60 + 20 +5
= 325 ans.

case 1: the vehicle reg. no has 1 digit
5 such plates possible.
case 2: the vehicle reg. no has 2 digits
5P2 = 20 such plates possible.
case 3: the vehicle reg. no has 3 digits
5P3 = 60 such plates possible.
case 4: the vehicle reg. no has 4 digits
5P4 = 120 such plates possible.
case 5: the vehicle reg. no has 5 digits
5P5 = 120 such plates possible.
therefore total plates possible = 5+20+60+120+120= 325

there are 5 digits
for 5 digit num plate =5*4*3*2*1
for 4 digit num plate=5*4*3*2
for 3 digit =5*4*3
for 2 digit=5*4
for 1 digit=5
adding all=325 is total num of plates can be formed

You can have registration plates of 5,4,3,2 or 1 digits
So,in last digit , we have 5 possibilities .so already one number got over.rest 4 numbers are available in last place and in second place , we have 5*4 as already one digit got filled in last place
...and after filling in the same manner we get :the following
it's 5*4*3*2*1 + 5*4*3*2 + 5*4*3 +5*4 + 5
=120 + 120 + 60 + 20 +5
= 325 ans
