Look upon the series carefully
2,9,5,49,11,169

it is the series of prime number
2 , 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17 , ......

square of those number which are in even no. places

like 2nd number, 4th number, 6th no. & so on

you will get the series
2, 9 ,5, 49 ,11, 169 ,17
2, 3^2 ,5, 7^2 ,11, 13^2 ,17
so next prime number is 17 it is in 7th place so put this without its square

next element will be 17

above listed numbers are all prime

The answer would be 17
2, 3^2, 5, 7^2, 11, 13^2,
So like this the next prime number, without squaring it, would be 17

where is 7 then...???
i think answer is 23...
becoz..
take 2 and check alternate series from their..
2+2=4
add 1 to ans 4+1=5,
similarlay...5+5+1=11
so next number will be..11+11+1=23
