1 hr. 36 min.

Distance traveled by truck in 24 min.=40*(24/60)=16 miles.
After 1 hr. distance traveled by truck=(16+40)=56 m. & by car= 50 miles.
As relative speed of truck & car= 50-40=10 mph
So difference of 6 miles will be covered in 6/10 hours or 36 minutes.
So car will catch the postal truck in 1 hr. & 36 min.
