(1/x+1/y)6=1
1st typist worked alone for 4 min and 2nd alone for 6 min with 4/5th work completed i.e.
4/x+6/y =4/5
Solving both equations we get x=2/3y
Substituting one of the eq we get x=10
Y=15

now think logically they both can complete the work in 6 minutes now the first typist typed alone 4 minutes and then the second typist typed alone for 6 minutes, it means if first typist work 2 more minutes after 4 minutes the work will be completed it means he can do 1/5th of work in 2 minutes so whole work in 5 * 2 = 10 minutes it means first can do the work alone in 10 minutes and together it is given in the question they complete the work in 6 minutes so you can easily calculate by basics of time & work that he will complete a work alone in 15 minutes. i.e. our answer that slower typist can complete the work in 15 minutes.

if the first typist typed alone for 4 minutes and then the second typist typed alone for 6 minutes then he left 1/5 work means they 4/5 work complete n also b's work complete bcz he has worked 6 mins......... accrdng 2 ques
then we find first typist work
1/5 typing=2 day
so whole typing=10 dys
so second typing do=15 dys

ans is 20 minutes
explanation: let us consider the slower typist as 'A' who complets the work in 4 min so he does 3 min of work each day to complete the entire work. 1%5=4 where 5*4=20
