Let the present ages of father and daughter be x and y respectively.
Then according to given conditions
x+y=42.......1)
x+7=3(y+7)
x-3y=14......2)
By solving 1) and 2) equations
We get y=7
Then x=35
The present age of father is 35 years.

Ans:-
present age of the father=35 & present age of the daughter=7.

suppose present age of father is f and of daughter is d.
Now given that sum of present age of father and daughter is 42 means
f+d=42--------(1)
now also given after 7 years later the age of the father is 3 times the daughter.
means
(f+7)=3(d+7)
f-3d=14----------(2)
on solving equation (1) & (2) we get d=7 and f=35
thus present age of father will be 35 and of daughter will be 7.

Let father's age be 'f' and daughter's age be 'd'
f+d=42...(1)
After 7 years...
f+7=3*(d+7)...(2)
solving (1) and (2)
Present age of father =f=35 years.
