otal weight increased = (8 x 2.5) kg = 20 kg.

Weight of new person = (65 + 20) kg = 85 kg.

ans is==42.5

assume that the avg of 8 students is =x
thus the sum of 8 students=8x

(8x+65)/9=x+2.5

solving the equation x= 42.5

New Avg= 45+2.5

(x1+x2+x3+x4+x5+x6+x7)/7 = Avg------1

((x1+x2+-------+x7)+65)/8 = Avg + 2.5 -------2

Sub 1 in 2 we get

(7(Avg)+65)/8 = Avg+2.5
8Avg+20=7avg+65
Avg=45

Average = 45

now
(x1+....+x7+new stu)/8=y+2.5
afer calculating both equn
we get new stu=85

please read the question clearly....new person is placed in the place of 65kg student....i.e 65kg std is replaced by the new person

weight is overall increased by (2.5X8= 20 kg)
new weight is 85kg
average= 85/8=10.625

The average weight of 8 persons increases by 2.5 kg when a new person comes in place of one of them weighing 65 kg. What might be the weight of the new person?
a. 76 kg
b.76.5 kg
c. 85 kg
d.data inadequate

Question should be:
the average age of 8 students is increased by 2.5kg when a new person comes to the place 65kg student .then what is age of new students?
sol- Total age increased=(2.5*8)=20
so, the age of new student=65+20=85
