x=time for each math problem
y= time for every other problem
50x+150y=180 minutes
x=2y because spent twic as much time on the math problems as the other

50(2y)+150y=180
100y+150y=180
250y=180
y= 180/250=18/25 of a minute per problem on the other questions

x=2(18/25)
x=36/25 minutes

let the total time taken to solve 1 question of maths=2x mins
other question=x mins
50*2x+150*x=180mins
therefore total time spent on maths question=72mins(solve the equation)

The equation is
50*2x+150*x=180mins
by solving we get x=72min.
