it is clear from question that42%male equals 28%female..so ratio of males to females =2:3
so number of males =2/5*500000=200000

Given 42% males means remaining 58% are females

i.e., in a city out of 500000, 210000 are men and 290000 are female.

out of 290000 ,28% are married i.e 71200 are married female

Thus we can say 71200 men are married.

Thus from above assumptions we can say that total men are 210000, 71200 men are married and remaining are not married. 33.2 % are married and remaining 66.8% are unmarried

now 28% females will marry 28% of man
so total is 42+28=70%
(500000*70)100 =350000

=> m= (42/(42+28))*500000
= 300000

42:28 = females:males = 3:2
number of males = 500000*2/5 = 200000

x+y=500000------------(1)
they merried so both numbers are same
so that
0.42x=0.28y-----------(2)
solve 1 and 2
u will get x=200000
y=300000.....
so males=2 lakh(answer)

let x be the no of men so (500000-x) will be no of women
acc to que 42% of x=28% of (500000-x)
x=200000
