128 players participated as each match results in moving one player out of championship.

so 127 persons lost at least one of their matches and 128th player became champion as he won all of his matches.

In a Knock-out tournament: A player is out of the tournament When he lose a match.
Totally 127 matches are played ==> 127 Players are out of the tournament.
Then,127Players + 1 Winner = 128 Players are participate in the tournament.
(or)Formula: (for Knock-out basis)
Number of Player = (Total number of matches)+1 = (127)+1=128

caz 7 rounds are being played....and at first round there was 64 match than no of players is 128 than among them 64 moves in next round so 32 match and so on........
64+32+16+8+4+2+1=127

Ans. 128 players.
There were 128 players making 64 pairs of players to play matches.
These 64 pairs will play matches and 64 players will be out and 64 players i.e 32 pairs of players will be left for further playing.
Then 32 pairs will play matches and 32 players will be out and 32 i.e. 16 pairs of players will be left for further playing.
Then 16 pairs will play matches and 16 players will be out and 16 players i.e 8 pairs of players will be left for further playing.
Then 8 pairs will play matches and 8 players will be out and 8 players i.e 4 pairs will be left for further playing.
Then 4 pairs will play matches and 4 players will be out and 4 players i.e. 2 pairs will be left for further playing.
Then 2 pairs will play matches and 2 players will be out and 2 players i.e 1 pair will be left for further playing.
In the last this 1 pair will play matches and 1 player will be out and 1 player will be the winner.
This can be verified by playing counting the total number of matches played
= 64 + 32+ 16 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 127 as given in puzzle.

knock out matchs starts with minimm 3

a vs b = a (1st)| c vs d = c (2nd) | a vs c = a(3rd) players a,b,c,d;

for 3 matchs there are 4 players ...

there is no even number of matchs in knockouts like 4 6 8 ..

for 5 matches there are 6 players.. so on for 127 matches there are 128

players..

in first round 64 matches have to be played. Out of 64 32 are qualified for second round
like wise 64+32+16+8+4+2+1=127

127 matches are played totally. this means that there are 127 loosers and 1 winner and this is a knockout round. hence a total of 128 teams.
