let the no of pearls be=x
then 1/3 get lost so remaining =x-x/3=(2x/3)
and from that 1/4 is missing so=(2x/3)-(2x/12)=x/2
and remaining is equal to 20
so x/2=20
x=40 i think so....

48 is the actual number of pearls.

Let total Number of Pearls = x

Number of pearls lost = x/3
Number of pearls missing = x/4

Remaining Pearls = 20

==> x = x/3 + x/4 + 20
==> x = (4x+3x)/12 + 20
==> x = (7x + 240) / 12
==> 12x = 7x + 240
==> 5x = 240
==> x = 240/5
==> x = 48..

Missing Pearls = x/3 = 48/3 = 16 pearls
Lost pearls = x/4 = 48/4 = 12 pearls
Remaining = 20
So, total = 16+12+20 = 48pearls.

let no.of pears be X;
1/3 is lost, i.e 1/3of X
Remaining= X-(1/3)x
= (2/3)x

Now missing = 1/4th of (2/3)x; i.e 1/4 *(2/3)x = (2/12)x =(1/6)x
Final remaining pears = (2/3)x- (1/6)x = (3/6)x = (1/2)x

given remaining pears is 20;
there4 , (1/2)x=20
=> x = 20*2
=> x=40. ans

=> 5/12 x = 20 => x =48

lets in beginning der is 100% pearl
den 1/3 of dem lost=33%
100-33=66% approx
den 25% of 66=16
66-16=50
this 50%=20 pearl
so 100%=40 pearl
