actually we have to find numbers less than 1000 which have neither a square nor a cube root.

total 37 numbers possible which have either a cube root or a square root.

so total numbers which have neither a square root nor a cube root= 999-37= 962

for square
numbers from 1 to 31 has square value less than 1000. so total 31 numbers are possible.
for cube
numbers from 1 to 9 has cube value less than 1000. so total 9 numbers are possible.

1^2=1^3 , 8^2=4^3 and 27^2= 9^3 these three are common.

so total number possible= 31+9-3= 37

square of 31 is 961, so 31 numbers, cube of 10 is 1000, in which 1 ,64 have both square roots , so 8 numbers total 39

less than 1000. so total possible no 999
3i^2=961 &32^2=1024
so total no having square root is 31
10^3=1000
so total no having cube root =9;
but no 1, 64, 729 having cube root as well as square root so we have to consider these no only once;
required no=999-31-9+3=962 ans
