Rs.1 he spent on day 1.

1st day he spent = 1
2nd day he spent = 3
3rd day he spent = 7
4th day he spent = 15
5th day he spent = 31
6th day he spent = 63

After six days, he spent = 1+3+7+15+31+63 = 120

with 1 Rs he started his expenses on day one.
let us take his day one expenditure is x.
then first day expenditure is x+1
second day 2(x+1)+1=2x+3
third day 2(2x+3)+1=4x+7
like that we have 8x+15,16x+31,32x+63 for forth fifth and sixth day
then
(x+1)+(2x+3)+(4x+7)+(8x+15)+(16x+31)+(32x+63)=120
by soving this we get x=0
so first day expenditure is x+1=0+1=1.I think this is the longest method..
can anyone tell me the simple procedure
