A wall measures 40m by 30m contains a window of size 15m by 10m. If the wall is hit by four stones, assuming that each stone hits the wall in a random position, independently of other stones, what is the probability that every throw hits the window ?
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- probability that every throw hits the window = ((15*10)/(40*30))^4 = 1/(8^4)

- The answer is 1/4096
Area of the wall is 40m*30m=1200m
area of the window =10m*15m=150m
Probability of the stone hitting the window is 150/1200=1/8
Therefore probability of four stones hitting the window is (1/8)*(1/8)*(1/8)*(1/8)=1/4096 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(1)
