When 3/4th of a unit's digit is added to the ten's digit of a two digit number, the sum of the digits becomes 10. If 1/4th of the ten's digit added to the unit digit, then the sum of the digits is 3 less than the sum of the original digits. What is the number ?

- Let the 2digit number be xy.
then 1st statement gives
(3y/4)+x=10
=> 4x+3y=40
2nd statement gives
(x/4)+y=(x+y)-3
=> x+4y=4x+4y-12
=> 3x=12
=> x=12
Substituting the value of x in 1st equation, we get
4(4)+3y=40
=> 16+3y=40
=> 3y=24
=> y=8

x+1/4y=x+y-3
1/4y=y-3
y=4
