- if u want to find out this solution using calculation it will be messed up.
rather doing so go for logical thinking.....
here eldest son is thrice of youngest.
so,the age of the eldest child should be divisible by 3.
hence, 12 0r 15
then applying condition 12 is not possible as youngest will be 4 then
so middle may be 9 or 7 but which does nt satisfy the condition
elder=2+(other's sum ofage)
taking 15 is satisfying all the condition
option (b) is correct. - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(28) No(3)
- b) x,y,z be ages where x is of eldest,z is of youngest
y-z=3
x=3z
x=y+z+2
solving x=15 ans - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(3)
- As given difference between any of two grandchildren if you take x-y=3 solution gives y=0 not possible so take y-z =3

- lets take elder's age as E ,middile son's age as M , younger as Y ...
given equ are E=3Y+Y ---(1)
E=2+M+Y ---(2)
SO if elder's age is 10 thn middle age will be 5.5 and younger's age will be 2.5 ... so satisfying all condition .... - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- try from option c d ruled out because eldest is 3times youngest...now pick a and b try to satisfy equation a/c to question
so b ans - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
