In a theatre the ratio of car & two wheeler is 1:8. Total Number of tyres are 100. Find how many are cars and how many are two wheelers?

• let the no of cars be 1x and no of two wheelers be 8x
  (1x*4)+(8x*2)=100
  20x=100 ...x=5
  1x=no of cars=5 8x=no of two wheelers=40

• let x=car then from given ratio 2 wheeler=8x
  then 4x+2(8x)=100
  4x+16x=100 .....x=5
  so ans 5 cars and 40 two wheeler

• answer is 5 cars and 40 two wheelers.
  solution is:-
  let say two wheelers= x
  so tyres of two-wheelers are= 2x
  so tyres of cars are= 100-2x
  so total cars are=(100-2x)/4
  so, (100-2x)/4*x=1/8
  gives x=40.
  so there are 40 two wheelers and 5 cars
