How long will a train 100 m long travelling at speed 72kmph overtake another train which is 200m long travelling at 54kmph?

• total speed=72-54=18 km/h=18*5/18=5 m/sec
  total length=200+100=300 m
  time=300/5=60 sec
  so train will overtake another train in 1 minute(ans)

  The train has to travel (200+100)m=300m to overtake the other one.
  Resultant velocity=(20-15)mps=5 mps

  two trains travelling in same direction,so find relative speed
  speed=72-54=18km/hr=18*(5/18)=5mt/s
  dist=100+200=300
  so time=300/5=>60sec (i.e)1min

  Relative Speed Of Train(V) => 72(V1)-54(V2) => 18 kmph => 5m/s
  Total tiime taken to cross the train => Total length of train(L)/Relative Speed Of Train(V)

• if train of one length a metres nd b metres are moving in same direction at u m/s nd v m/s,.....then time taken by faster train to cross slower train is
  a+b/u-v.....by applying thzz formula for above question u can get easilyyyyyyy...
