Ashish and Bali run towards each other from P and Q respectively with respective speeds of 36 kmph and 45 kmph.After meeting each other if Ashish reaches Q in 5 hours,in how many hours will Bali reach P?

Let the distance from P to Q be x kms.

Given that, Ashish and Bali starts from P and Q respectively, with speed 36kmph and 45kmph respectively meet at point R (somewhere in between P and Q). After both meet at R, Ashish takes 5hrs to reach Q.

Since, speed is directly proportional to distance.
S(Ashish)/S(Bali) = D(P->R)/D(R-Q) = 36/45 = 4/5 (See the figure for better understanding)

Ashish (36kmph) --> x = 36

Now, the time taken by Bali to reach P (from R) covering the distance of 4x at 45kmph = 4x/45
=> (4 x 36)/45
=> 16/5
=> 3 1/5 hrs (3 and 1/5 hours)

So, Option b) 3 1/5 is the correct answer.
