A train crosses two persons, cycling in the same direction as the train in 12 and 18 seconds respectively. If the speeds of the two cyclists are 9 and 18 kmph respectively. Find the length and speed of the train.
a)80 m b89 m c)98 m d)90 m
Read Solution (Total 1)

- let the speed of train be s. Relative speed for first cycle =(s-9)
time=12 sec, so dist=speed*time
=(s-9)*12*(5/18)m/sec
Relative speed for second cycle =(s-18)
time=18 sec,so dist=speed*time
=(s-18)*18*(5/18)m/sec
on solving the two equations we get
s=36 km/hr and length of train =90 m - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
