  => 6x = 48
  
  => x = 48⁄6 = 8
  
  Sum of the numbers = 2x + 3x = 5x = 5 × 8 = 40

  we know the formula lcm*hcf=product of 2 numbers
  hcf of (2x,3x)=x
  =>x*48=2x*3x
  =>6x=48
  =>x=8 so the 2 numbers are 8*2=16
  8*3=24
  sum of numbers=24+16=40
