.diagonal of a square is double the side of an equilateral triangle find the ratio of area of triangle to area of square
Read Solution (Total 8)
-
- let sides of equilateral triangle be 'a', therefore area= √3/4 * a^2
now, diagonal of square is 2a therefore sides of square will be √2*a
and area of square = 2 a^2
hence, ratio = (√3/4* a^2)/(2* a^2)
answer = √3/8 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(21) No(1)
- If a is side of triangle and x is side of square , then
4a^2= x^2+x^2= 2x^2
x^2= 2a^2 = area of square
area of triangle = (root 3)* (a^2)/4
ratio of area of triangle to area of square = (root 3):8 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(15) No(0)
- diagonal of square is 2a(say).then side of square will be 2a/sqrt(2)=sqrt(2)a
hence area 2a^2
area of triangle sqrt(3)a^2/4
hence reqd ratio will be
sqrt(3):8 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- let side of square =a
let side of eq. triangle=b
given,
root2*a=2*b
thus,a/b=root2
now area of square=a^2
area of eq triangle=root3/4*b^2
ratio=root3/4(b^2/a^2)
=root3/4(b^2/2b^2)
=root3/4(1/2)
=root3/8
ans=root3/8 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
