- For these type of questions, use the formula 7x/4 =[sum of ages] where x is the age of elder.
2)7x/3 = [sum of ages] whr x is the age of younger. Here peter is elder is 7x/4=35. Solve you get x= 20 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(57) No(7)
- let peter=a paul=b
given tat a+b=35,a=2(2b-a)
3a=4b
a=4/3b
substituting v get a=20,b=15 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(17) No(2)
- let peter=r
paul=l
peter was paul's age means r-l years ago
r-l years ago peter was=r-(r-l)=l---->paul's age now
r-l years ago paul was l-(r-l)=2l-r
Peter is twice what Paul was
r=2(2l-r)
r=4l-2r
3r=4l
l+r=35
3l+3r=105
7l=105
l=15
r=20 - 14 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(0)
- Let peter's age=x & paul's age=y
Given: x+y=35
Wen peter was as old as paul is now, i.e.
wen peter was y i.e.(x-y) yrs ago,
then paul was y-(x-y)=2y-x yrs old.
so, acc. to condition:
x=2* Paul's age x-y yrs ago,i.e.
x=2(2y-x)
x=4y-2x
x=4(35-x)-2x
x=140-6x
7x=140
x=20
i.e. Peter's age is 20 yrs old. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
