a man goes upstream of 10km in 5 hrs. another man goes down stream 10km in 3hrs. what is difference in speed of 2 men if the river speed is 0.5kmph

• 10 km/5 hrs = 2 km/h
  10 km/3 hrs = 10/3 km/h
  since river speed is 0.5=1/2
  so 2+1/2 = 5/2
  thn (10/3) - (1/2)= 20-3/6 = 17/6
  (17/6) - (5/2)=(17-15)/6 = 2/6 = 1/3 = 0.33.(difference)

  so here u= 10/5=2kmph v=0.5kmph as given
  so spd of upstrm = 2-0.5= 1.5
  spd of dwnstrm is (u+v)
  here u=10/3=3.33
  so 3.33+0.5= 3.83
  so the diff is 3.85-1.5= 2.3
  so the ans is 2.3

  10/(y+.5) = 3 => y = 2.84
  
  (x-y)= 2.83 - 2.5 = .33 km/h

  upstream speed is actually x-.5=2 ;x=2.5kph.
  downstream speed is thus y+.5=3.333;y=2.83,kph.
