A toy weighing 24 grams of an alloy of two metals is worth Rs. 174, but if the
weights of metals in alloy be interchanged, the toy would be worth Rs. 162. if the price of one metal be Rs 8 per gram, find the price of the other metal used to make the toy

x + y=24
8x + zy =174
zx + 8y =162
so y=(24-x)
subtituting the value of y in the last two equations we get z=6

If x gm of one metal of price Rs 8 per gm is used and price of other metal is Rs y per gm, then
8x+24y-xy=174
-8x+192+xy = 162
adding these two eqns, we get
24y=144
