. a container B has twice capacity of A. container A is half filled with wine. container B is one fourth filled with wine. remaining portion is added with water in each container. then they are evacuated in to a third container which could hold the above capacity. find the ratio of wine to volume of last container?
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- B=2A
The capacity of 3rd container=A+B=A+2A=3A
total wine=A/2+A/2=A(because B/4=2A/4=A/2)
Ratio=A/3A=1:3 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(22) No(2)
- let a be 100 lt, 50 lt is wine
b be 200 lt, 50 lt is wine
c be 300 lt, 100 lt is wine
so 100:300 = 1:3 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(0)
- let b volume is 4x
so a volume is 2x
...
now a is half filled with wine so x volume
and..
b is 1/4 filled so x volume
remaining portion in a=2x-x=x
remaining portion in b=4x-x=3x
So total 4x part including a & b is filled with water...
When both are mixed...
wine is=2x
and vol of 3rd container is 6x..
so ratio is 2/6=1/3 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(1)
- 1:3, clearly
