if the equation A+B+C+D+E=FG is the two digit number whose value is 10F+G and the letters A,B,C,D,E,F and G each represent different digits. If FG is as large as possible, what is the value of G?
a)4 b)5 c)1 d)3

- that also not right as 3 is repeating 2 times..
ans should be:
9+8+7+5+2=31, so option 'c' is right choice.
am i correct? - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(62) No(17)
- FG is as large as possible and all the 7 numbers should be different.
Let’s try out a few possibilities..
9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 = 35…5 is getting repeated twice.
9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 4 = 34…4 is getting repeated
9 + 8 + 7 + 5 + 4 = 33…3 repeats
9 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 32
None of the numbers repeat in the above case and 32 is the maximum number FG can have. The value of G is 2. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(26) No(0)
- 9+8+6+5+4 = 3 2..

- Answer will be :
9+8+7+5+2=31
so, value of G=1. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(15) No(4)
- but SUBRAT your result is 33..
which does not give the unique values of F and G - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(4)
- yaa u r right....yeah i will be 32..i:e--9+8+7+5+3=32

- i think its 3...
9+8+7+6+5=35
but as question states a,b,c,d,e,f,g are all dissimlar so...
it must be..
9+8+7+5+4=33....so all digits are unique - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(23)
- FG is as large as possible==== 4+5+6+8+9=32
- 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
- 9+8+6+5+4=32 so 2 will be the answer

- guyss ....in ques they asked find the max possible such that
9 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 32 G value is 2 not 1..
9+8+7+5+2=31..here 31 is smaller than 32 ..but we have 2 find max value ......so no answer for abve que ..right answer is 2
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 32 will be correct answer not 31 as fg should b as large as possible and 32>31
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 9+8+7+5+4=33 no repeat of numbers!
so,G will be 3. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
- as d sum is alarge as possible so it can be..
(9+8+7+6+5)=35 so g is 5 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(6)
- plz any one tell me why we are not consedering 6 and 4
- 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- 1+2+3+4+5=15. so why not 5 is the answer
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- 4+5+6+7+8=30. so 0 can be the answer.

- @subrat bhadra can u plz explain clearly in step wise
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- FG is as large as possible and a,b,c,d,e represent different digit so to get large no we take largest single digit
9+8+7+6+5=35
now 35=10F+G (should be a 2 digit no)
so f should b 3 this make g=5
35=10*3+5
35=35
right?? - 2 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
