- This is the question:
Father is aged three times more than his son Ronit. After 8 years, he would be two and a half times of Ronit's age. After a further 8 years, how many times would he be of Ronit's age?
Answer:
Let son's age be x
Then father's age = 3x
After 8 years,
3x+8=5/2(x+8) ( since 2(1/2)=5/2 )
Multiplying both sides by 2,
2(3x+8)=5(x+8)
6x+16=5x+40
6x−5x=40−16
x=24
So the son's age is 24, and the father's age is 72.
After 16 years ( since the question is asked as a further 8 years ),
son will be 40 ( 24 + 16 ) and father will be 78 ( 72 + 16 ).
Hence ratio = 78/40=39/20=1(19/20) - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
