- 14% are invalid...so 5000*14/100 =4300.
if we consider no of votes secured by winner is y, then the other candidate secures 4300-y votes. given difference between them is 15 % of the valid votes.
hence, y-(4300-y)=15*4300/100....
y=2472.5....approximately 2473

- ANS : 2795
.65*.86*5000=2795
explanation:
valid votes= 86% of 5000 = 4300.
majority of winner =15% (i.e., he may get 65% of valid votes)
65 % of 4300 = (65/100)*4300 = 2795 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- 14% of total votes are invalid. this means 86% of total votes are valid.
86% of 5000=5000*86/100=4300 votes are valid.
Winner gets 15% of valid votes. So he gets 4300*15/100=645 votes. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(11)
- 14% of votes was invalid so remaining 86% is 5000*(86/100)=4300.
15% votes margin by winner is 750.
rest is 71% equally split by both of them means winner get 35.5%+15% = 50.5% of 5000 votes i.e., 2525 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)

- Invalid Votes = 14 % (5000) = 700
Valid Votes = 5000 - 700 = 4300 = R (say)
Assume the looser got 'L" votes and winner got "W" votes.
W - L = 15% (R)
W + L = R
Solving we get W = 57.5% and L = 42.5%
So Winner got 57.5%(4300) = 2472 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- Now as 14% of votes are invalid the winner will be decided by remaining 86% votes now to draw each must have 43% votes. But as we have a winner having 15% more votes the winner must have 43+15=58% of votes while loser has 43-15= 28% votes. Calculate the 58% of total votes and we have the answer i.e. 58% of 5000 i.e. 2900
