sandra while walking diametrically across a semicircular playground, takes 3mins less than if she had kept walking around the circular path from A to B. if she walks 60 metres a minute , what is the diameter of the playground?

- if we take radius is r then diameter is 2r now as said
pi*r-2r=180(in 3min goes 180 mtr)
by calculating r =157.5mt
so 2r=315 mtr
diameter =315mtr - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(0)
- in one min , she walks 60 meters..... it means in 3min,she walks 180 meter extra
now,
circumfrence of semi circle = 22/7(r)... where r is the radius
diameter of semi circle = 2r
therefore,
22/7(r)= 2r+180
8/7(r)= 180
r=(180*7)/8
2r=(45*7)=315 m

- let radious=r
so according to question
3=(pi*r/2)/60 - r/60
find out r
ie 631.54 m
then diameter =r*2;
