- Let s be the perimeter of the triangle,
so s = (40 + 24 + c)
we know are of a triangle is,
a = sqrt[ s/2*(s/2-a)*(s/2-b)*(s/2-c) ]
where a,b,c are three sides.
here s/2 = (64 + c)/2
area is 384 sq.units
so according to the above formula,
the value of c is 32 units. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- As it has been clearly said "largest side" so
lets say altitude = 24 and base = x
Area of triangle = 1/2 * altitude * base
384 = 1/2 * 24 * x
x = 32 unit - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)

- this can be done in many ways. . one method is this:
lets use Pythagoras theorem :
we know larger side is 40. or let us take it so. .
40=Sqrt(24^2 + X^2)
solve for x
answer will be 32.

- The best way to solve this is verification method
the formulas used for this is s=(a+b+c)
Area=sqrt(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c);
substitute third value
