an express train was running at an average speed of 100kmph stopping for 3mins after every 75kms.the time taken by the train to reach the destination at a distance of 600km is?
Read Solution (Total 7)
-
- 600/75 = 8 parts if 600 km is divided in 75 km i.e train has to stop 8 times
but at last no need to stop at a gap of 75 because train finally reaches the destination
so train only stops 7 times time spend is 7*3 = 21 minute
100 km /hr so time to travel 600 km is 6 hr + 21 minute extra
total time is 6hr+21min - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(63) No(1)
- 75+150+......600
600=75+(n-1)*75
n=8
so train will stop at 8 places
but 8th place is destination
so number of stoppage in path=7
time spend in stoppage =3*7=21min
time to reach the destination=600/100=6hr
total time=6hr21min - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(0)

- when the total journey of 600 kms is divided into intervals of 75 km 8 such intrvls are obtained... so the train stops 7 times=7*3=21 mins
time taken by the train to cover 75 km at 100 kmph=36mins
so total time for travel=36*8=288
time required to reach destination=288+21=309mins - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(15)
