a boat goes 24km upstream and 28km downstream in 6hours. if it goes 30km upstream and 21km downstream in 6hours and 30mins.what is the speed of the stream?

let rate upstream=x km/hr & rate downstream=y km/hr
then, 24/x + 28/y=6.....(1)
30/x + 21/y=6 1/2=13/2....(2)
after solving equation (1) & (2) we get x=6 & y=14
now speed of the stream=1/2(y-x)=1/2(14-6)=4 km/hr
