- ahmed, babu, chitra, david and isha choose a large and different no. ahmed says ‘My number is not the largest and not the smallest’. Babu says “my number is not the largest and the not the smallest”. Chitra says “my number is the largest”. David says “my number is the smallest”. Isha says “my number is the not the smallest”
Exactly one the five children is lying. The other are telling the truth. Who has the largest number?
a)isha b)david c)chitra d)babu - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(13) No(8)
- for these king of questions answer will be the last member given in the question
ie., eesha
so eesha is answer
am sure about it
if any one say dats wrong
plz u guys prove that - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(14)
- chitra is ans because.....ahmed and bablu have same statement so it can't be false......if we say.eesha is saying lie...then..eeha's no is smallest which contadicts with david....so chita s lying

- Esha Is the Right answer. Because Chitra is lying. and if the chitra is correct then this is a very simple question and can be solved by a student of 2nd standard as well. So Esha is saying that her No. Is not the smallest one. but rest are saying that our number is not the largest and not the smallest. that's y Esha Is the right option.

because only esha says my number is not smallest i.e. largest - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- lets have the positions of largest to smallest from 1to5
Case 1:
Assume A-false
so A must be in 1 or 5
then B must be in 2 or 3 or 4
C must be in 1 so A in 5
but D's statement contradicts with our assumption, so its wrong
CASE 2:
Assume B-false
A- 2or3or4
B- 1 or 5 (since false)
C- 1 so B-5
Similarly D's statement contradicts with B's, so wrong
CASE 3:
Assume C-false
A- 2 or 3 or 4
B- 2 or 3 or 4
C- 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 (since false)
D- 5 so C- 2 or 3 or 4
E - 1 or 2 or 3 or 4, since there are already A,B,C in 2 or 3 or 4 ,
E must be in 1. This satisfies.
Lets try for the remaining 2 cases too
CASE 4:
Assume D- false
A- 2 or 3 or 4
B - 2 or 3 or 4
C - 1
D- 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (since false) but already C- 1 so 2 or 3 or 4
Now only left out is 5th place but it contradicts with E's statement , so wrong
CASE 5:
Assume E - false
A- 2 or 3 or 4
B- 2 or 3 or 4
C - 1
D- 5
E's statement is false which means E is the smallest
but already D-5 so this is also wrong
The only case that satisfies is CASE 3
Hence EESHA has the largest number - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- Ans.a. EEsha
Largest -> A B C D E
A F T/F T/F T/F T/F
B T/F F T/F T/F T/F
C F F T F F
D T/F T/F T/F F T/F
E T/F T/F T/F T/F T - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Ans-a eesha
- 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Ans: A
Largest -> A B C D E
A F T/F T/F T/F T/F
B T/F F T/F T/F T/F
C F F T F F
D T/F T/F T/F F T/F
E T/F T/F T/F T/F T
From the above table, If we assume that A has the largest then A and C both are lying. Similarly if we find the truthfullness of the remaining people, it is clear that E has the largest and C lied. (Only one F in the last column) - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
