If the two expressions x2 – 11x + A and x2 – 14x + 2A have a common factor, find A.
Read Solution (Total 5)
-
- let common root is k
so from eq1: k+g=-11....(1)
n kg=A(g is 2nd root)..(2)
now from eq2: k+s=-14..(3)
n ks=2A..(4)
from (2) n (4) we get s=2g..(5)
put d value in (1)..dan solve wt (3)
u get k=-8 n g=-3.....so from (2)A=(-8)(-3)=24

- ans is 24. solve using property that the sum of two factors is -b/a.
and multiplication of the same is c/a. where the standard eqution is ax^2+bx+c . - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- if you will solve this with typical method it will take too much time.
so subtract both equation,
3X-A=0
A=3X.
ANS WILL BE IN MULTIPLES OF 3, 24 IS THE ONLY CORRECT OPTION

- (c1a2-c2a1)^2=(b1c2-b2c1)(a1b2-a2b1)
get tha ANs is 24 - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(2)
