A man can row 6 km/hr in still water .if the speed is 2km/hr ..it takes him 3 hours to row to a place and back .how far is the place?
Read Solution (Total 6)

- If speed of water is 2 km/hr
upstream speed = 4 kmph
downstream speed = 8 kmph
if d is the distance, then
d/4 + d/8 =3
d= 8 kms - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(32) No(1)
- time downstream + time upstream= total time
d/(6+2)+d/(6-2)=3
d=8km - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(0)
- x/(6+2)+x/(6-2)=3
x=8km. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- It will depend on speed of water if it is not still..
- 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- speed downstream is 6+2=8
& speed upstream is 6-2=4
then the distance is assume x km
so
t=d/t
3=x/4+x/8
solve this then 3x=24 & x=8km... - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- 8km
t1+t2=3h
t1+t2=(x/4)+(x/8) - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
