A man can row 6 km/hr in still water .if the speed is 2km/hr ..it takes him 3 hours to row to a place and back .how far is the place?

• If speed of water is 2 km/hr
  upstream speed = 4 kmph
  downstream speed = 8 kmph
  if d is the distance, then
  d/4 + d/8 =3
  d= 8 kms

  d=8km

  & speed upstream is 6-2=4
  then the distance is assume x km
  so
  t=d/t
  3=x/4+x/8
  solve this then 3x=24 & x=8km...
